Often the main entrance to the church is only used for an hour on Sunday
morning and most people enter through a rear service door. Since parking is
located to the rear of the buildings in many structures, churches often look
empty during the week with most activity to the rear.
Consider planning facilities so that activities will occur on the front
of the building where they are visible from the main street or road. It is
nice to have lights on at night in a building to let the public know that
the church is active.
Major classrooms and meeting rooms placed on the front of the building
let people know that someone is home. Outdoor terraces or yards that
can be used for coffees after services or other fellowship activities
and help to reinforce the impression of a vibrant, living church.
