It is important to develop a single main entrance for use during the week.
The main office should face this area so that a visitor can be directed to the
right place and office staff can know who is in the building at any particular
time. Many churches have between five and ten outside doors with no indication
as to their function.
In most churches a single unlocked door, or a door that is attached to
a security entrance system is desirable for weekday use. While this has been
a problem in urban churches, all should consider the safety of the people in
the building. This requires control of an entrance.
It is also desirable to organize the church offices. Typically offices are
put in small rooms and end up being scattered all over the building. No
commercial operation would consider separating staff, with the secretary
apart from the people he or she serves.
Considering where your weekday entrance is, and how it would best serve
the office staff and visitors, is an important consideration.
